BCM(Beautiful Creations of Myanmar)
In Bagan, an ancient royal city on the Ayeyarwady, on a level with more than 2,000 pagodas, lives a craft, which also maintains the production of beautiful lacquer objects in addition to gold and silver work for over 3000 years. A special horsehair-woven bamboo guarantees that the lacquer bowls remain flexible even after application of various coating layers. The paint is obtained by scarify the bark of Thitsibaumes. The liquid comes into contact with air, it is dark and hard. After each layer, the dishes are stored for about a week in a cool, airy place.
Then the vessel with a paste of sawdust, ash and rice water is cemented. Once the glue is dry, the object with a stone or fine sandpaper is sanded smooth. Then so many coats of paint until all irregularities have comparably disappeared. Easier objects are painted, valuable obtained by engraving, painting and sanding a multi-colored ornament. The preparation of a five-color work of art may extend over several months.
